Our Mission: To spark more children’s interest in Rugby
and help them experience the true Spirit of Rugby.

Our story

Kurt Won is a devoted rugby-loving dad on a mission to ignite a passion for rugby in the hearts of children everywhere. Kurt's journey began during the early stages of lockdown when he found himself bedridden due to sciatica. Fueled by a desire to share his love for rugby with his young son, he embarked on a remarkable creative journey that would lead to the birth of "My First Rugby Book."

In those challenging days of recovery, Kurt sketched out the brilliant idea of an ABC rugby book tailored specifically for kids. What's even more impressive? He taught himself the art of illustration using just an iPad, turning his vision into vibrant, captivating visuals that kids adore.

Kurt's dedication and passion resonated with rugby-loving parents worldwide. Through a successful crowdfunding campaign, he rallied the support of over 120 passionate rugby parents hailing from more than 10 countries. Their collective enthusiasm brought "My First Rugby Book" to life, initially as a limited edition board book and later as a paperback edition available on Amazon.

"My First Rugby Book" is not your average children's book. It's a delightful, fun-illustrated masterpiece filled with rugby-specific terms and clever rhyming verses that introduce kids to the thrilling world of rugby union. Today, this enchanting book is cherished by hundreds of children across the globe, bridging generations and allowing rugby-loving adults to share their passion with their little ones, nephews, nieces, grandchildren, and friends.

But Kurt's journey doesn't end here. His mission is to use "My First Rugby Book" to inspire countless children to embrace the joy of playing rugby. Kurt himself is a true rugby aficionado who continues to actively participate in the sport, playing full contact rugby for not one, but two teams at Barnes RFC in London.

So, whether you're a rugby enthusiast, a parent eager to share the game with your children, or simply seeking an extraordinary ABC book for kids, Kurt Won's "My First Rugby Book" is your ticket to an adventure-filled world of rugby, designed with love, passion, and a commitment to inspire the next generation of rugby players. About Kurt Won

Kurt is a rugby-mad dad, a loving husband and an accomplished amateur sportsman.

Basketball was his first sport while growing up in South Africa. But after his father took him to his first rugby game at Loftus Versfeld to watch his beloved Northern Transvaal (now Blue Bulls) in the early 1990’s, rugby has been his first love. He started playing rugby for the first time when he attended Pretoria Boys’ High School, scoring 8 tries in his first year. After that he played basketball for the high school 1st Team for 3 years, captaining the team for part of his final year, when they won the school league and played in the National Schools Championships. He also played club basketball, captaining the Under 18 side in his final year, helping the club win their first championship.

After high school, he studied at the University of Bath, and played lacrosse for the Mens Lacrosse 1st Team for four years, winning 3 Flags tournaments and a Division 3 title. He was one of the highest goal scorers for the team and was awarded a Colour by the University of Bath.

While studying at the University of Richmond in Virginia, USA, Kurt played rugby for the First XV, who won Division 3 for the first time in the university’s history and played in the Virginia State Championships in 2003, where they beat the number 1 seed.

He is a loyal Blue Bulls and Springboks supporter. And loves collecting rugby memorabilia.

Kurt is also an award winning business consultant, having won the 2013 Rising Star of the Year Award at the South African Chamber of Commerce Business Awards in 2013.
